Want to open a food establishment?

  • Requirements for a restaurant:
    • Appropriate application submitted with appropriate fee
      • Fee Range depending on restaurant operation ($125.00 – $175.00)
      • Bar/Tavern only (NO FOOD $100.00)
    • Facility Drawing
    • Pre-opening inspection (2 weeks prior to opening)
    • ALL paid employees must be food certified
    • All new/remodel plumbing must be approved by the Illinois State Plumbing Inspector (Marion office phone #618-993-7010)
  • Requirements for a Mobil Food Unit:
    • Appropriate application submitted with appropriate fee
      • 6 month Permit $75.00
      • 12 month Permit $150.00
    • Facility Drawing
    • Commissary information – if you rent or use an existing commercial kitchen, an authorization letter must be on file sign by kitchen owner
    • ALL paid employees must be food certified
    • Pre-opening inspection of mobile unit AND commissary (2 weeks prior to 1st event)
  • Requirements for Cottage Food:
    • Appropriate application submitted – $50 annual fee
    • Copies of all recipes attached to application
    • Copies of all labels attached to application
    • All homeowners/paid employees must be certified as a Certified Food Manager
