Vector

The vector program allows the health department to perform surveillance for West Nile Virus, mosquitoes, nuisance/rodent controls.

From mid –April to mid- October, the health department collects dead birds to send into the state for testing. During this time mosquitoes are also trapped for testing. The testing of the birds and mosquitoes allows for tracking of the disease in our county. This information is also useful when any kind of treatment is applied.

A small portion of the program can be dedicated to nuisance/rodent controls as well.

If you have any other questions regarding the vector program feel free to contact us or look at one of the following links.
